I see Bush and his cronies are now trying to bribe us with $800. Why not make it an even $1000? As usual Bush and his cronies have missed it. I’m sure they think that if they just throw some money at the ingrates that things will calm down. I don’t think so.

We must see a complete change of attitude in Washington. The Congress must really understand that this is a nation by the people and for the people. We don’t need anymore big business interests buying off our Congress or our President and Vice President.

Your comments are always welcome.

China's Tiananmen Square protest where thousands died. This week President Bush gave a speech at the UN. He declared that the world’s dictatorships should give their people freedom. He mentioned many countries. However, he never once mentioned Communist China.

Communist China is one of the most oppressive dictatorships in the world. It is, in fact, just as brutal and oppressive as Myanmar. If the people of China took to the streets in protest, as they did in Tiananmen Square in 1989, where 3000 civilians were killed by their own Communist Chinese army.

Why did Bush not list China? Because the big business interests in the US would not want you to know just how brutal China’s dictatorship is. Every time you buy something made in China, think about the people you are oppressing in that brutal dictatorship.

As always, your comments are welcome.

The other day I started thinking about the legacy of George W. Bush. I thought about the terrible loss of life in Iraq; over 600,000 Iraq civilians and over 3,000 US military personnel to-date since we toppled Saddam Hussein’s regime. And surely the horrendous unrest and turmoil that very well may continue long after our civilization is gone. Is this the Bush legacy?

The United States has been divided between Red states and Blue states and those who used to be for the Iraq war and those who never were. Our liberties have been eroded more than at any time since the founding of our nation. Secrecy has been developed into a perfect art form by Bush and his administration. Illegal entry into our country by Mexicans was allowed to continue unabated. New Orleans turned to Washington during a time of grave crises. The response from Bush was merely a photo op. The erosion of America’s middle class. Bush has spent over $500 Billion on the Iraq war to-date. Is this the Bush legacy?

There was a time, not too long ago, when there was a country called the Sweet Land of Liberty. In those days, before September 11, 2001, the name of the United States represented many wonderful things. Things like liberty and justice for all, “do not fire unless fired upon”, separation of powers, good will towards all nations and promoting “the general welfare.”

Since George Bush became President and especially after September 11, all of these things exist only in sentimental memory. In its place is another, dark United States. It is a country where its people live with a constant quiet fearfulness. It is a country where any one of us could be taken away by the police and locked away for years, without charges, without access to a lawyer, without a trial. We will have just disappeared, as people did in Argentina, El Salvador and Guatemala.

It is a country where any speech directly opposing the government’s policies is marked treasonous, and no one who disagrees with the President is allowed to see him in public. It is a country where all of us are under surveillance, and our privacy is almost gone. It is a country which commits acts of agression on its neighbors in the world, and defies any nation or group of nations to stop it.

It is a nation where its press,Chief Executive, Supreme Court and Congress are captive to its most powerful citizens, making all these institutions unresponsive to their own people. It is a nation where the richest citizens take from the poor, and run all government institutions for their own further enrichment.

In short, America is now more akin to one of those Banana Republics with its tinhorn dictator that we traditionally scorn.

I ran across a very off the wall web site www.bushisantichrist.com.

The author of the site, R. Stephen Hanchett, alleges that George W. Bush is the antichrist. He has also written a book. Needless to say, the author has elicited many comments to his claim. What do you think?

Bush’s stand against Stem Cell research is sad indeed. He says every life, even a unused embryo is precious. Was he thinking about this when our attack on Iraq killed 600,000 Iraqis and to-date, 2,735 U.S. Soldiers? I think Bush is using his stand on Stem Cell research to gain votes. What do you think?

President Bush has said that it is good that the US dollar is falling. He said that will reduce the cost of our goods overseas. Thus, making our goods more attractive to overseas buyers.

My question is: what goods? What do we actually manufacture in the US. The answer is, that we now manufacture almost nothing that anyone overseas wants to buy. I think Bush’s economics are flawed. What do you think?

I’m sure by now that everyone has heard about President Bush using the S word while chatting with England’s Tony Blair. I don’t think any sitting president should ever use swear words in public. He probably shouldn’t use them even with his staff. It’s undignified and might be offensive to Mr. Blair. What do you think?

Bush now says his main mission for Iraq was to free them from a dictatorship. Why did he not free the oppressed of communist countries: Cuba, China and N. Korea? I welcome your comments and discussion on this question.

Based upon what we have learned during the Bush presidency, should he be impeached? Enter your comments.
